Nyko Charge Station Quad leaves no Wiimote uncharged It's certainly not for everybody, but if Wii-playing parties are a regular occurance at your place, or if you happen to have a bunch of Wiimotes lying around for some other purposes, you may want to consider Nyko's new Charge Station Quad, which promises to keep four of 'em topped off at all times. You'll also, of course, get four of Nyko's own NiMH rechargeable battery packs with the package, and four rubber battery covers to prevent any unfortunate accidents. Look for this one to hit all the usual locations sometime next month, when it'll set you back $50....

Movie Studios Sue Australian ISP For Not Waving Magic Wand And Defeating Piracy — A few years ago, after realizing that blaming consumers wasn't a particularly effective strategy in covering up for the entertainment industry's own inability to adapt to a changing market, industry insiders chose a new strategy: blame ISPs. That sent them down a path of trying to force ISPs to do a variety of things, such as installing filters, policing their networks for copyright-infringing material and, of course, kicking users off their networks. In the mind of entertainment industry execs, a failure to do any of these things should be a crime. Note how the industry totally shifts responsibility here. Rather...

New Ultrasone HFI-15Gs look like solid open headphones I’ve got a pair of Ultrasone HFI-580 cans at home, the review for which will be appearing soon, and I can tell you that they do sound great. They really seal around your ear, though, which some people like and some don’t. These much lighter (and cheaper at $109) HFI-15Gs are open-back, meaning sound and air pass through the headphones, although I wouldn’t say it “escapes” from my experience. It uses some of the same tech (S-Logic, a surround sound technique) but has a smaller driver, resulting in the loss of 10Hz at the low end and 2KHz at...

BFG to Offer Rebate Relief for Bounced ChecksLast week we reported that Continental Promotions Group (CPG), one of the largest and oldest rebate entities in the business, managed to put itself in a rather sticky situation by not having enough funds to pay off its obligations. To quickly recap, manufacturers have a pretty good idea of how many rebates on any given product will be processed and cut a check to CPG based on that amount. CPG then doles out the funds as rebate forms come trickling in, but a large chunk of money has gone inexplicably missing. According to HardOCP, CPG owes anywhere between $9 million...

'Astroboy' Teaser Trailer: He Wears a Shirt Now? Since when does Astro Boy wear a shirt? As a purist and an android pedophile, I demand answers. Furthermore, why does he have the same laugh as an over-excited Mario? All this trailer tells me is that it will be an awesome video game: He busts right through the earth! To entrust that kind of power to a child is insane! I hope that's in some way addressed....

LinkedIn or Facebook for Security Clearance Checks #risk #linkedinI went over to visit Peter Went this week, his company WCC Group produces a Fuzzy Logic Database which amongst other things used for matching Biometric Data. He said he was going to be in Milan today giving a talk to start discussion on the following point. Governments only really know about 5-10% of their population, a few because they have had a security clearance check performed and the rest because they have a criminal record. The remaining 90-95% of their population they have no clue about, they only know whether they paid there taxes. (Percentages may vary slightly.) A...

Journo-GurusAdrian Wooldridge admires a new class of journalists:These journo-gurus have overturned two established hierarchies. The first is the billion-dollar management theory industry, hitherto ruled by business professors and management consultants who produced books and then turned those books into business fads. Alas, the books were often dismally written, the fads a recipe for disaster. This created an opportunity for those with sharper pens and more dispassionate attitudes. A recent Wall Street Journal ranking of management gurus, based on Google hits, newspaper mentions and academic citations, included two journalists in the top five (Friedman at two, Gladwell at four) and only...

Google SearchWiki brings custom search results Disagree with Google's search results? You'll be able to do something about it with a change the company plans to release starting Thursday. Google's SearchWiki is a feature that lets people elevate, delete, add, and annotate search results. Google remembers the changes a person made to search results, so repeat searches will show the same customizations and notes. Google has been offering SearchWiki as an experimental feature to some people for months, but starting Thursday it will become available to anybody who's searching while logged in with a Google account. "This is a search feature that gets a user...

Midday Open Thread Would Sarah Palin like to have you visit Alaska? You betcha! Gov. Sarah Palin is personally inviting Americans from all over the country to visit her home state. Well, sort of. Letters bearing her picture, on letterhead that reads “Office of the Governor” and encouraging people to sign up for a free Alaska travel guide, have begun reappearing in mailboxes around the nation as part of an appeal from the Alaska Travel Industry Association. Gawd, will this woman ever get out of our lives? Today is the last day to vote for Burnt Orange Report's David Mauro to receive...

The announcement came from Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig following owners' meetings where Hal Steinbrenner was unanimously approved as new owner. Hal, who runs the financial side of the Yankees, will continue to share the role of chairman with his brother Hank, who oversees the baseball operations. Hank Steinbrenner tends to lead like his father did--drawing headlines for putting down former manager Joe Torre and calling the Red Sox Nation "a bunch...
