Milk Cast Spills: Penn Calls Prop 8 "Manslaughter"James Franco as real-life gay rights activist Scott Smith, Sean Penn as Harvey Milk. Photo: Phil Bray/Focus Features. Gus Van Sant’s new film Milk tells the story of Harvey Milk, who in 1977 became the first openly gay man to be elected to a major public office in the United States, only to be assassinated within his first year of serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. At turns tragic and exhilarating, the film chronicles the last eight years of Milk’s life (played by Sean Penn), when he worked on campaigns for public office and the protection of gay...

The ROG CG6190 pairs up the powerful Core i7 Extreme Edition with the Intel X58 chipset. The press release isn’t exactly clear but it seems that the box can support up to 12 GB of triple channel DDR 1333 memory and 4TB of hard drives with the graphics being provided by a 3-way SLI and ATI CrossFireX graphics. All this computing power has to come at a price but ASUS didn’t announce how much it will...

Angelus NovusA reader writes: I have to confess I haven't read your books, but since "The Politics of Homosexuality," I've tried to push you on those who can't seem to articulate why they, as conservatives, object to civil equality. I imagine somewhere in your writing though, you're coming from Benjamin's Angelus Novus. He's one of my favorites, and with this post today, so are you. "A Klee painting named ‘Angelus Novus’ shows an angel looking as though he is about to move away from something he is fixedly contemplating. His eyes are staring, his mouth is open, his wings are spread....

GotGame Releases Integrated Web Browser For Games; Watch Hulu As You Get 1337 For all their mesmerizing graphics and adrenaline fueled gameplay, it might come as a surprise to non-gamers that many of today’s most popular computer games are bogged down by downtime (I should know - I spent the better part of 1999 mining virtual ore in Ultima Online to become a master blacksmith, and enjoyed about 10 minutes of it). MMOs like World of Warcraft see epic battles punctuated by hours of wandering mostly empty wilderness, while FPS games often punish gamers for dying by making them sit out and watch their comrades go at it until the beginning of...

EXCLUSIVE: Adele Stopped By, Totally Disrupted My Work FlowIf you have ears you have probably heard the lovely (and acclaimed) singer Adele. Or perhaps you may have seen her as the musical guest on the Sarah Palin episode of SNL. Though she's often been compared to Amy Winehouse, I think her voice has a more luxurious, what-is-that-velvet? quality than Amy's ever did. Adele's music is hypnotic, beautiful, and stirring - trust me. This is something I learned the hard way, when she visited me at work. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get stuff done with a soul singer shadowing you for the day. If you...

California to set up a $1B electric car networkProject Better Place has scored a coup in the California Bay Area. The electric vehicle startup has struck a deal with the region, including the cities of San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, to set up a $1 billion charging network for electric cars, with car availability beginning in 2012. Unlike its charging network in Israel, it looks like the Better Place network in the Bay Area is a plan to support electric car development throughout the state. The deal in Israel involved a tie-up with Nissan-Renault to make the small cars that work with the stations, which swap out...

Nyko Charge Station Quad leaves no Wiimote uncharged It's certainly not for everybody, but if Wii-playing parties are a regular occurance at your place, or if you happen to have a bunch of Wiimotes lying around for some other purposes, you may want to consider Nyko's new Charge Station Quad, which promises to keep four of 'em topped off at all times. You'll also, of course, get four of Nyko's own NiMH rechargeable battery packs with the package, and four rubber battery covers to prevent any unfortunate accidents. Look for this one to hit all the usual locations sometime next month, when it'll set you back $50....

Movie Studios Sue Australian ISP For Not Waving Magic Wand And Defeating Piracy — A few years ago, after realizing that blaming consumers wasn't a particularly effective strategy in covering up for the entertainment industry's own inability to adapt to a changing market, industry insiders chose a new strategy: blame ISPs. That sent them down a path of trying to force ISPs to do a variety of things, such as installing filters, policing their networks for copyright-infringing material and, of course, kicking users off their networks. In the mind of entertainment industry execs, a failure to do any of these things should be a crime. Note how the industry totally shifts responsibility here. Rather...

New Ultrasone HFI-15Gs look like solid open headphones I’ve got a pair of Ultrasone HFI-580 cans at home, the review for which will be appearing soon, and I can tell you that they do sound great. They really seal around your ear, though, which some people like and some don’t. These much lighter (and cheaper at $109) HFI-15Gs are open-back, meaning sound and air pass through the headphones, although I wouldn’t say it “escapes” from my experience. It uses some of the same tech (S-Logic, a surround sound technique) but has a smaller driver, resulting in the loss of 10Hz at the low end and 2KHz at...

BFG to Offer Rebate Relief for Bounced ChecksLast week we reported that Continental Promotions Group (CPG), one of the largest and oldest rebate entities in the business, managed to put itself in a rather sticky situation by not having enough funds to pay off its obligations. To quickly recap, manufacturers have a pretty good idea of how many rebates on any given product will be processed and cut a check to CPG based on that amount. CPG then doles out the funds as rebate forms come trickling in, but a large chunk of money has gone inexplicably missing. According to HardOCP, CPG owes anywhere between $9 million...
