(Image via ABC) Tom Szaky sells people worm feces in thrown-away bottles. At Treehugger, he writes: Garbage is America's #1 export and possibly the biggest raw material source we have. ... Waste is also a new idea - probably no more than 100 years old. It is an idea that came about with the birth of complex polymers and consumerism (brought on by the fad for disposable products in the 1950s). If necessity breeds innovation, then we are long overdue to find innovative ways to solve the waste issue ... If enough businesses begin to use this undervalued material...
Filed under: Industry, Programming, Reality-FreeWith all this talk that the fall season not exactly thrilling TV viewers (old shows losing viewers, not many new shows catching on in a big way, quirky favorites being canceled), it's probably time to start talking about what shows we can expect after the new year, at least from two of the networks. On ABC we have Castle, with Nathan Fillion as a mystery novelist who helps police solve crimes (of course he does). It starts Monday, March 9 at 10pm. ABC also has The Unusuals, with Amber Tamblyn as a cop transferred to a new...
Filed under: Other Drama Shows, Industry, Reality-FreeElle Woods Bishop might be dead, but the rumors of Kristen Bell reprising the role of Veronica Mars for a big screen outing are still circulating. Actually, a script is being written and a movie deal might already be in place. At least that's what former Veronica Mars cast member Enrico Colantoni is saying. In a recent red carpet interview with The TV Addict, Colantoni said that VM creator Rob Thomas is working on a script for a film version of the short-lived CW series. Colantoni is the latest Mars associate to get fans'...
Filed under: Other Sci-Fi/Supernatural Shows, Programming, OpEd, Heroes, Casting, Reality-Free, FringeWhen exactly did we start lusting after sci-fi mystery shows with such a vengeance? That's the question I'm asking myself after reading the news about ABC's Flash Forward, a drama pilot starring Courtney B. Vance (pictured) and Jack Davenport. The show is based on Robert J. Sawyer's sci-fi novel and follows the chaos that ensues after everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Oh, and everyone has a mysterious vision of the future that changes their lives forever. See, I'm the perfect viewer for this...
POLITICS BUZZ: W begins his farewell tour in an interview with ABC, telling Charlie Gibson that he was “unprepared for war” and that he's “sure some people voted for Barack Obama because of me.” We can all look forward to the torrent of self-pitying interviews and “I've-stopped-caring” executive decisions coming our way. Cue the Green Day. Filed under: Other Drama Shows, OpEd, Reality-FreeDo you have those things on your favorite shows that just make you smile when they happen? It's not like it's the highlight of the show or anything; maybe it's just giving you those warm fuzzies inside. Maybe it's when Earl crosses something off his list on My Name is Earl. Or maybe it's as simple as when Penny sits in Sheldon's spot on The Big Bang Theory. Those familiar moments somehow make us feel like we're with old friends.I get those. Most recently, I've been getting them when the Walkers of ABC's Brothers...
Filed under: Animation, Reality-FreeHey, it's December! That means that the Christmas specials are about to start, if they haven't started already. Tonight we have How The Grinch Stole Christmas (8:30pm on ABC) and on Wednesday we have Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (8pm on CBS). And still to come, of course, are It's A Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and many more. Not to mention all of those Lifetime Christmas movies where someone falls in love around the holidays, plus all of the Christmas episodes of our favorite TV shows. I think Heroes is going to have...
Filed under: OpEd, Desperate Housewives, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free(S05E09) "We're going to protect our son." - Lynette to TomTwo weeks ago, we were treated with what was supposed to be an important episode for ABC's Desperate Housewives, special effects and story-wise. No matter if we enjoyed the episode or not, it did set some wheels in motion. So after such an episode, I expected this week's installment to continue on the path set forth by "City on Fire." I wanted the detectives to bring in some people for questioning and make an arrest sooner rather than later, I hoped to see...
Lately, I feel like every time I turn on the news the pregnant man is staring at me. From ABC to CNN, Thomas Beatie was showing off his lovely little girl and announcing that a second child was on the way. While I watched the various interviews, I thought to myself here is a man who is expecting his second child without what seemed to be many fertility issues. From the information I have gathered, the man didn't need to go through any assisted reproductive measures. Yes, the couple used donated sperm but they didn't even need the services...
Filed under: Industry, Grey's Anatomy, Casting, Reality-FreeApparently ABC is weirded out by Izzie having sex with a ghost too. At the very least, they certainly are curious. According to EW, the alphabet network has started testing audiences with a potential Grey's Anatomy love story between Izzie and the very, very, very not alive Denny Duquette. Now I know focus groups aren't cheap and since it's Thanksgiving Day, I'm in a very giving mood. So if anyone from ABC is reading this - let me save you some money: This story BLOWS.Continue reading ABC to focus group: you cool with Izzie...
Fans of the British time-travel cop show Life On Mars may have mixed feelings about the American remake, but not the creator of the original. British producer Ashley Pharoah told the trades that, "I think it's marvelous." He's even okay with the changes the American team has made so far. Pharoah is happy that the American version has ditched the ending of his original series and made the time-travel storyline a bit murkier, in order to continue the show for longer. He's also pleased the Americans reshot their weak original pilot: "It was sun-drenched and rather pleasant," Pharoah said of...
