Although I like to flatter myself that my personal blog has the top Google result for “nes mp3 themes” and related searches, it’s folks like VGMusic and OC Remix that have the selection and newer tracks that gamers crave (if they crave game themes at all). Case in point: Capcom didn’t come to me when they wanted to freely distribute the soundtrack for the new (and from what I hear, awesome) Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix. There are a lot of tracks (torrent here) and they’re pretty much what you expect. My only question is, how can...
The game Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix is now available on Xbox Live Arcade (and PSN) for 1,200 Microsoft points. I bought it this morning and promptly realized two things: one, it’s tremendous and two, I’m rubbish at Street Fighter nowadays. I played about halfway through Arcade mode before finally giving up—like I said, rubbish—but that was enough to ensure that I’ll be playing it throughout the weekend. You’ve no doubt seen screenshots, maybe a GameVideo or two, but actually playing the game, at 1080p, is something else entirely. All the characters handle exactly as you remember—down-down/forward-forward-punch...
Section: Gaming News, Consoles, PS3, Xbox-360, Updates, Playstation-Store, Xbox-Live That was fast. The earlier announcement of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix “branded experience” that is up as of yesterday (November 19, 2008) on Xbox Live hinted that the game would release on the Xbox Live Arcade on November 26, 2008. We assumed that the PlayStation Network release would follow a day later but not anymore. In a press release just sent out by Capcom, the company has confirmed that the XBLA version will in fact launch on the November 26, 2008, with the PSN version launching one...
Even though you can find imported stand-up arcade units of Street Fighter IV in the big cities, Capcom will not officially releasing it here. You all know why: arcades in the U.S. have been dead for several years—when was the last time you or someone you know said “let’s go to the arcade”?—so it’s not worth Capcom’s time to release it here. That means it’ll be one of the only Street Fighter games to be released onto consoles without a prior arcade run. And yes, it’s still scheduled for a February 17, 2009 release for the Xbox 360 and...
We hope you guys are as ready as we are for this one, as Capcom has finally announced the release date for Street Fighter IV. You’ll be able to pick up your copy for the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 on February 17th here in North America, and February 20th if you are in Europe. We’ve been waiting for this game for the better part of a decade, so you can bet we’re stoked. We also find it mildly amusing that in the announcement, Capcom urges people to pick up Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, which is supposed...
Section: Gaming News, Consoles, PS3, Game-Companies, Publishers, Updates, Playstation-Store This Thursday’s (November 13, 2008) Playstation Network update will bring more than just another game or theme, it will bring a whole storefront. The Capcom storefront we previously reported is coming to fruition much sooner than any of us thought. A post on the PlayStation Blog) confirms the news. The storefront promises to bring all of Capcom’s digital content on PSN together in one easy to find and navigate store. Navigation seems to work exactly like it does on the regular PSN store and, sorry guys, no word yet about special...
Resident Evil 4's PC port notwithstanding, the Resident Evil series of survival-horror games is among the more enjoyable reasons to wet yourself. Thus, the possibility that the hide-and-go-aiiiieeee series' latest entry might be making its way over to our platform of choice inspires both excitement and trepidation. Sadly, at this point, RE5's PC release is unconfirmed. After a PC version appeared alongside its console counterparts on a recent Capcom release list, Big Download attempted to get ahold of Capcom to verify the port's existence. In response, a Capcom rep waved the site away, merely saying that no official announcements...
Street Fighter IV will come out in Japan in February. Capcom said as much earlier today at an event over there—“over there” being Japan and “Capcom” being the fine gents who developed the game. No, we don’t know exactly what date it comes out, nor do we know the North American release date. An animated (“anime”) movie is slated to appear with the first few copies of the game. Also, remember that Suer Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix is scheduled to come out this month on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. That should hold us over till...
Ever since we first caught wind of the upcoming Street Fighter IV revival late last year, it hasn’t been easy to just sit back and wait. While it hasn’t gotten any easier, we finally do have a time frame in terms of when we can expect this inevitable gem to hit consoles here in the US. Drumroll please… This winter! In a recent conversation with GameSpot, Capcom stated that the highly anticipated sequel 10 years in the making would “definitely” be hitting shelves this winter. What’s more, all of our European friends need not worry as Capcom also made...
Section: News, Consoles, PS3, Handhelds, PSP How does Sony say thank you for your awesome productivity and quality of digital downloads? By giving you your own storefront on the Playstation Store. That’s what Sony has recently granted Capcom, publishers of the highly praised Mega Man 9 and Bionic Commando: Rearmed. The storefront will go online in November 2008 and will catalog all of Capcom’s downloads in the one place. “Out of all of the third-party companies making use of the digital space, [Sony] recognizes Capcom is one of the best partners for content,” said John Diamonon, product manager on all...
Capcom released a new trailer for Resident Evil 5 (which will launch in the US and Japan on March 13, 2009) at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. The company made a huge fuss about the game. I made a video at the TGS (see below) that shows the space Capcom dedicated to Resident Evil 5 alone at their (gigantic) booth....
One of my favorite games of this year’s Tokyo Game Show is Streetfighter 4, which made an equally great impression on the XBOX 360 and PS3. Capcom made massive efforts to promote the game, for example with this very cool trailer you can watch below. Here is another video (provided by DigInfo) in which a Capcom PR representative talks about Streetfighter 4 (gameplay footage included)....
Monster Hunter is a highly popular RPG brand in Japan so no wonder people lined up for hours at the Tokyo Game Show to play the third part of the series (I didn’t). Capcom will release this game on the Wii but it’s undecided when. Watch a video of the game after the jump. Video is courtesy of DigInfo...
