Filed under: Cable, New contentSo, what's it like being a Comcast subscriber in Jacksonville, Florida? You know -- to pay oodles of cash for a service and get high-def stations dropped on you in twos and threes rather than by the dozen? From the outside looking in, it's tough to say if the slow and steady approach is actually admired or loathed, but whatever your feelings on the matter, two more are headed to the Florida city. As of now, locals can find Cartoon Network HD and E! HD tucked away in the EPG, and if history is any judge,...

Rickrolling was taken to the largest audience yet Thursday at the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. Instead of a performance by the characters of “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends,” onlookers were treated to a rendition of “Never Gonna Give You Up” by singer Rick Astley. The switch happened on Thursday morning, during the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The puppets on the float featuring the Cartoon Network show began to sing 1970s hit and TV theme song “Best Friend,” but stopped abruptly, revealing Astley, himself, dancing and singing to his signature tune. Thanks to NBC, there's probably not anyone left who hasn't been Rickroll'd. It started out innocently enough as the characters from Cartoon Network's Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends strolled through the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. But during one of the stops in which the creatures were in the middle of a song, 80s pop star Rick Astley emerged out of nowhere and started belting out the all too familiar "Never Gonna Give You Up." At the end of the song, one of the creatures exclaims "I like Rickrolling!" Apparently, so does NBC.This isn't the first time event goers have unwittingly...
Filed under: Industry, Programming, Reality-FreeIn an example of a changing economy and changing world, Fox will be putting infomercials in its Saturday morning time slot. They're even giving the slot a name: Weekend Marketplace. It kind of makes sense. Unlike my own youth, children don't look to Saturday morning as the sole source of kid's fare. They only need to turn on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon or one of the plethora of Disney channels. Those channels are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For those interested in a historical look at the old Saturday morning cartoons, I recommend fellow...
Filed under: Video, Animation, Reality-FreeTalking apes! Alien leeches! Laser-shooting blob people! You'll never catch The Dark Knight rubbing elbows with such kooky company on the big screen. To see that, you'll have to tune into Batman: The Brave and the Bold, the new animated series on Cartoon Network. Two episodes in and I'm loving this lighter, zanier take on ol' Bats' crime fighting adventures. It reminds me a lot of ABC Family's The Middleman, which itself was somewhat inspired by the campy 60s Batman TV Show. Unlike Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight and the darker Batman cartoons we've seen before,...

It had to happen: In an attempt to use the wide spread of Star Wars characters, the latest episode of The Clone Wars abandoned Anakin, Ahsoka and the clones in favor of the characters that we really didn't want to see: C3-P0 and Jar-Jar Binks. And as if that wasn't bad enough, the episode also included the kind of political dispute that made The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones so easy to refuse. As Jar-Jar himself said, "We'sa in trouble now!" What was most interesting about "Bombad Jedi," last night's episode of the animated series, was how true...

In this week's Star Wars: The Clone Wars we're hearing hints that Jar Jar Binks may die. In fact, the studio has even provided a clip that shows Jar Jar falling off a clip and (maybe) dying. Honestly, if the Clone Wars series ended right here, with this clip, I can honestly say, I'd be cool with it. Even if this isn't really the end for the most annoying Gungan, you can at least watch the clip and fantasize. And wonder, if Lucas killed Jar Jar, would that make you love him again? Obviously, we kind of know that Jar...
I was pretty much bowled over by last week's first episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold, with its pop-art combination of fun, action and villains with cosmic-powered gongs for weapons, but this pic from Friday's second episode promises that even better is to come. Yes, that's Batman turned into an ape, ready for action beside Plastic Man. And if you need more evidence of the show's greatness, look below for a second picture of awesome. Because Bat-Ape wasn't good enough, the episode also features Batman versus a T-Rex. Seriously, what else do you people need from your television?...
