In a recent interview with Cedric Dupont, product manager for Google SearchWiki, we found that Google doesn't intend to provide an option to disable SearchWiki. "While users don't have the option of turning off SearchWiki, they do have the option not to use the feature. By turning off the feature entirely, people will never get used to the new offering or see how it might be useful to them. We encourage people to try it out."Fortunately, there are some ways to hide SearchWiki's visual clutter:1. Sign out from your Google account. The feature is only available to authenticated users since...

Have you ever wanted to mark up Google search results? Maybe you're an avid hiker and the trail map site you always go to is in the 4th or 5th position and you want to move it to the top. Or perhaps it's not there at all and you'd like to add it. Or maybe you'd like to add some notes about what you found on that site and why you thought it was useful. Starting today you can do all this and tailor Google search results to best meet your needs.Today we're launching SearchWiki, a way for you to...

"Today we're launching SearchWiki, a way for you to customize search by re-ranking, deleting, adding, and commenting on search results. With just a single click you can move the results you like to the top or add a new site. You can also write notes attached to a particular site and remove results that you don't feel belong. These modifications will be shown to you every time you do the same search in the future. SearchWiki is available to signed-in Google users. We store your changes in your Google Account. If you are wondering if you are signed in, you can always check by noting if your username appears in the upper right-hand side of the page." - ~C4Chaos

Don't like your Google results? Rank your ownGoogle is letting you get personal with your search results. The Internet company plans to introduce today a new feature, called SearchWiki, that allows users to change their results from Google searches. You can move items up and down in the rankings, remove them entirely, leave notes about whether you found a particular site useful and add sites that either don't show up in the search results or are buried. Then it remembers those changes the next time you log in. And that is a catch, with privacy implications: You must be logged in to use the service so Google...

Google SearchWiki brings custom search results Disagree with Google's search results? You'll be able to do something about it with a change the company plans to release starting Thursday. Google's SearchWiki is a feature that lets people elevate, delete, add, and annotate search results. Google remembers the changes a person made to search results, so repeat searches will show the same customizations and notes. Google has been offering SearchWiki as an experimental feature to some people for months, but starting Thursday it will become available to anybody who's searching while logged in with a Google account. "This is a search feature that gets a user...

Robert Pattinson Proposed to Kristen Stewart On the Twilight SetIt is possible that I may have spent a vast number of solitary hours in Barnes & Noble this weekend catching up on the Twilight novels after reading this Entertainment Weekly cover story, which includes profiles of Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Kristen Stewart (Bella), plus more tidbits on the making of the film, which opens on November 21. Incidentally, it's filling the slot The Half-Blood Prince left open when it got pushed back to this summer. The machine keeps denying Twilight can mimic the staggering profits of Harry Potter, which is true of the books, certainly. But the thing is,...

'Cadillac Records' Trailer Will Buy You a Sweet Car Sony has released the trailer to Cadillac Records, the story of Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Etta James (Beyoncé), Big Willie Dixon (Cedric t. Entertainer), and Chess Records owner Leonard Chess (Adrien Brody). If most single-musician biopics have a decent chance at a big award, imagine what this chewed up wad of them will do when it gets spat into theaters. Time for Beyoncé to win those trophies she missed with Dreamgirls and Austin Powers in Goldmember! So many near-kisses. First base is so hot....

Fashion Illustrations by Cedric RivrianMaison Martin Margiela for Maria Luisa Catalogue If you dont know by now I have huge weakness for fashion illustration. These renderings by french Artist Cedric Rivrian are absolutely beautiful. The flow of his work is flawless; accents and detail where necessary and loose line work use to express the aesthetic of certain design or designers. I definitely feel the Egon Schiele inspiration but his style is clearly distinctive. Balenciaga more Illustrations —> TrendLand Posted by trendland for Design Yout Trust, 2008. Quick IE6 Fixes (For Those That Still Support It)Yes, we know Internet Explorer 6 is a pain to support, but for many of us, it’s a reality. Luckily, there are some tried and true tricks for at least making your site look okay in that browser from 2001. I haven’t found a single place that lists all the bugs (maybe there are too many?), but the three below cover some of the common ones. Some bugs are so big, they’re covered in all three. Everyone wants to fix the double margin bug, right? Cedric Dugas shares solutions to 6 CSS bugs in IE6. From PNG transparency to duplicated...

5 Ways To Spot A Lousy Personal Trainer — Two of your best friends hired trainers and now they love their workouts. And there's another story in the gossip magazines about an amazingly fit celebrity who thanks her trainer by name. It's about time, you decide, that you get some help yourself. But before you choose your coach, make sure you know what to look for. Yes, it's nice that a prospective personal trainer looks healthy (or handsome), but that's not enough. If you spot any of these five danger signs, physiologist Cedric Bryant of the American Council on Exercise suggests you keep looking. 1. Unprofessional Business Practices: If...

Earthquakes Are Scarier When You Have Children ... cross posted from our sister site, Los Angeles Moms Blog. When the earthquake hit this morning, Caius, my two year old, and I were sitting on the couch together, pretending to feed each other imaginary food. Cedric, my newborn, was on my bed, napping. As our windows started rattling and the floor shook beneath us, Caius looked up at me, his face filling with fear and confusion. Suddenly realizing what was happening, I grabbed him and leapt towards the bedroom doorway. Telling Caius to stay in the doorway, I ran to scoop up Cedric (who had woken up...

Share Your Expertise in Google's KnolKnol is a new Google service created for sharing knowledge. The service has been announced in December 2007 and it's now publicly available. While you may find some similarities between Knol and Wikipedia, it's important to notice that Knol is centered around authors. Each Knol article displays the name of its author and links to a small biography. Google even lets you verify your identity, but this only works if you live on the US.Knol doesn't intend to become an encyclopedia, so there's no single article about a topic. An author can write about almost any topic, but it's recommended to...
