Filed under: Walt Disney (DIS), Bargain stocks, Stocks to Buy, Recession There truly are very few places to hide during the current financial crisis and economic recession. Trust in the markets is at an all-time low, and volatility is at an all-time high. The most senior of professionals in this business are shaking their heads in amazement. We have not seen anything like this during our lifetimes. When it will end is anyone’s guess. The silver lining, I suppose, is that it will indeed end at some point. When it does, investors can look forward to a landscape of...
My kids are scared shitless of Santa. Ok, maybe scared isn’t the right word. They can’t look at him, or talk to him, or go anywhere near him. But it’s not clear if they are scared or OVERWHELMED BY HIS GLORY. This means, aside from one photo when my son was 9-months old and I hadn’t thought through the chaos, my children have no pictures with Santa. So when I see articles over at BlogHer like Laurie’s…I have to laugh and shake my head at other parents who are fine with torturing their children year after year after year. Don’t...
This whole Seth Rogen phenomenon has yielded one good result: more exposure for sassy Jay Baruchel. Now Baruchel is in line to star in the modernized version of Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice playing, erm, Mickey, I guess. Playing the wizard is omnipresent cheesemaster Nicholas Cage. Jay Baruchel (who will be in the "Flash If You Love Wookies" movie Fanboys) is in talks to play this role for Disney, and they would be mad to pass on it. The story is set in present day New York City, and Nicolas Cage plays a creepy old wizard looking for an apprentice. It's being...

TiVo owners found a placeholder button indicating a high definition Amazon HD service early this morning. The button, however, simply took users to the standard Amazon Top Downloads area instead of to HD content. Now the entire TiVo download section is not available, rather showing the image above instead of displaying services like Amazon, Web Videos, Jaman, and Disney. Furthermore, TiVo has denied that the service is coming soon. So we can only assume that section was pulled to remove that HD button to prevent any more rumors. The hope is still alive though that maybe sometime soon, us...
Filed under: Programming, Celebrities, Pickups and Renewals, Reality-FreeThe Disney Channel has ordered six additional episodes for the third season of their ridiculously successful series Hannah Montana. The series stars teen icon Miley Cyrus in an effort to maximize her exposure before she is sacrificed for the harvest. This brings the number of total episodes of the season to 30. When does any show get thirty episodes per season? The number I've always understood to be the maximum is 24 (and that's only for a series that is actually called 24). My guess is they're trying to wring as much they can...
How sez, "California hipster artist Shag has created 13 new art pieces commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion attraction. I've collected all the details (and art) known to date about the upcoming event in August of 2009 in one post." What's not to like? Shag's art + the best ride Disney's Imagineers ever built = sheer heaven! Details are still a little sketchy (pardon the pun) at this time, but it appears that a range of merchandise will be created based on the art: at the very least, Shag will be signing prints on Sunday, August 9th at...
Upstart streetwear brands have been coopting the likenesses of animated characters, specifically Disney characters, for decades. So it’s really interesting to hear that The Hundreds will be collaborating with The Walt Disney Company on a limited run collection. The LA and SF shops have already been made over with the Disney collection - anyone in the area who’s been to the stores, let us know what you find. via STREEThing The Hundreds blog © Orli Sharaby for PSFK, 2008. | Permalink | Comments | Add to del.icio.us...
Filed under: Industry, Reviews, Other formats It's not that movie critics were bowled over by the storyline of Bolt, it's that most everyone who saw it in 3D came away at least reasonably impressed by the visuals. The film is far from being the first to see a widespread 3D release, but it is one of the first to be marketed as such. Unlike any time that we can remember before, Walt Disney pushed the third-dimension version of this flick hard, and we're interested to see if you felt it was worth sitting through with 3D glasses (and in some...
/Film has reported that trade magazine Production Weekly claims the upcoming Tron sequel, which Disney has thus far marketed as TR2N, has gone through a change of title in response to all the criticism. Now it's being called TRZ. So that takes care of the whole idiotic, unpronounceable title issue....
I love this little humidifier shaped like Stitch, the little blue alien in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch cartoon! The water vapor looks like Stitch is belching off something foul, but the only bad thing about it seems to be the price tag. At $120, this Stitch humidifier may just be leaving your wallet in tatters. Link...
