This morning FriendFeed, which is kind of content delivery version of Twitter, went international, launching in six new languages–German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Russian and simplified Chinese. Now live, the move is a natural extension for the Mountain View, Ca.-based start-up–which was founded earlier this year by a small gang of ex-Googlers: Bret Taylor, Paul Buchheit, Jim Norris and Sanjeev Singh. The company says that one-third of users already use FriendFeed in languages other than English. More languages are planned, said the company, which specializes in super-aggregating updates of all kinds for social networking and news items in an ongoing...
Filed under: Snacks, Dessert, RecipesYou may have caught the In Sixty Seconds Toronto Star post yesterday that began with a recipe for espresso cookies. Being a coffee fiend who roasts beans often, I couldn't resist trying it out. They're called "Espresso Cookies," which is mainly because of the dark roast, but these are really just coffee cookies. (They do require a fine grind, but more flour-like than espresso-like.) And calling it "coffee" isn't a slight. These sugar-covered treats are a great, coffee-flavored treat that is perfect for adult crowds and coffee fiends. Put a pile of sugar cookies out for the...
Axl Rose decided to go "rogue" on his handlers at Geffen records, and basically not do any press or talk to reporters about his 15-years-too-late not-so-masterpiece of a new album, Chinese Democracy. We are not at all surprised that it isn't selling very well! According to some insider, who could be his publicist or, maybe -- plot twist! -- Axl himself: “Everyone knows Axl is a bit of a maverick genius and won’t do anything he doesn’t want to do. "The label is really glad to have him back. But it is frustrating because the album would have had a...
Filed under: Misc, Other hardware, Players, Sony We're still not over Sony's trickeration -- which led us to believe the version 2.53 firmware update was hitting prior to the US Thanksgiving holiday -- but we're not ones to turn down a free update under any circumstances. As of now (as in, right now), Sony's PlayStation 3 can support full screen embedded Flash videos courtesy of the latest firmware, so there's really no excuse for you not firing up the System Update and sucking it down. Get to it![Via PS3 Fanboy, thanks to everyone who sent this in]Full screen Flash-enabling v2.53...

Think of Krampus as the “anti-Santa”, the demon who comes to punish children who misbehave during the year. Krampus Night is celebrated on the eve of St. Nicholas Day in Europe, particularly in Austria. The Krampus tradition, whilst once done with a modicum of sobriety is now used as an enormously great excuse to get completely inebriated. Think of it as an old Europe version of Spring Break but, alcohol aside, with slightly different preoccupations and - of course - at a different time of year. Very well, just think of it as an excuse for young people to behave...

“Is Computer Infected?” As an IT professional, that is the desperate question I am often asked. Excuse the poor English, but words frequently fail computers users when they are having major problems with their computers. To answer this question quickly, if you are using Windows, and have Internet access, there is a very good chance your computer is infected with numerous nasties, even if you are using an antivirus program. Aside from computer viruses, one of the biggest problems is spyware/adware. Chances are, your computer is already infected with spyware/adware, without you knowing about it. What is Spyware and...
With Battlestar Galactica returning in less than two months, anticipation is at fever pitch over the identity of the show's Final Cylon. We've looked at the clues to date and offered some theories of our own, but with SyFyPortal claiming that it knows the character's identity for sure - and then offering up five possible choices to choose from - it's time to look at it from another angle: Which character would be ruined if they turned out to be the Final Cylon? While Charlie Jane isn't convinced by SyFy Portal's claim of spoilage, at least three of the five...
The next few days I will be in Nurenberg, working on-site at our customer's facilities at the airport. I am arriving Monday afternoon and departe on Thursday morning, so I basically have three evenings to spend on going out for dinner and probably a pub or two So if anyone living in that area doesn't want to pass up on a verifyable excuse for some fun, let me know....
