Uneasy shift from billboard to boardroomThe worlds of business and showbusiness have never been the easiest of bedfellows. When the going is good, the pair have snuggled up, sometimes successfully. For example, Anna Ford has brought cachet and experience to the board of Sainsbury’s, while Mothercare has benefited from the boardroom input of Birmingham City’s Karren Brady....

The "Power Lunch" team are also offering joke suggestions of interesting sights for the CEOs to see along the way. WATCH:...

Auto Industry Collapse: Who Gains From Detroit's Pain — You'd think an automotive apocalypse was nigh. In their pleadings to the government, executives from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler make it sound as if the entire U.S. auto industry will crash if they don't get billions in aid. But we're forgetting something: Americans will still need to buy cars, even if they don't say GM or Ford or Chrysler on the badge. Once the recession fades and prosperous times return, in fact, Americans might buy 16 million or 17 million cars per year, a lot more than the 12 million or fewer they'll buy this year. So who will...

Microsoft applies Model T factory methods to datacentersMicrosoft has come up with a faster, cheaper way to build its datacenters over the next five years, and it says other companies could use its methods too.Microsoft's approach, described by General Manager Michael Manos in a blog post Tuesday, uses a modular design in which standard units of computing, cooling, and electrical equipment are delivered to a facility on the back of a truck and assembled on site. The system, which Microsoft calls its "Generation 4" design, will allow its datacenters to become operational more quickly and cut the cost of building traditional, brick and mortar facilities.[ Find out...

First November Auto Sales In, Prove People Are Scared To Buy Cars [Carpocalypse Now]November car sales numbers are coming in and they’re what you expect them to be — horrendous. Ford is down 31% month-to-month with last year. Toyota fell even further at 33.9%. That's successful compared to GM's 41% drop. Even Honda is down 31.6%. What's going on? Carpocalypse Now is going on, that's what! The entire auto industry is screwed at the moment, and it's not just the U.S. automakers. Since Toyota’s and Honda’s numbers are in the crapper it points to what we've been saying from the start. This is less an issue of a problem with our dear domestic...
