[Direct Link]Two baby sisters are seriously ill in hospital after an apparent fox attack at their home. Skip related content Police said the nine-month-old twins were in a "serious but stable" condition after being hurt while sleeping in their cots on Saturday night. Officers and paramedics were called to a house in Homerton, east London, to reports that the animal had attacked the pair. The little girls are being treated at the Royal London Hospital. They both reportedly suffered arm wounds and one of the girls was believed to have facial injuries. The fox was believed to have been in an upstairs room. A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The incident is not being treated as suspicious. "We were called to reports of a fox attack. Officers and the ambulance found two girls with injuries." In 2002, mother Sue Eastwood claimed her baby boy, Louis, was left injured after a fox crept into their house while she slept. The fourteen-week-old suffered bite marks on his head after the animal darted into the sitting room of the house in Dartford,...
- HalilOk, why would foxes attacked humans? I didn't think they would. I certainly never heard of foxes perceiving humans as prey, so it can't be because of food, unless they are desperately hungry and starving to death? I don't get it.
- HalilThis is a highly suspicious news report might I add.
- Mehmet DoguelliSeriously folks, stop watching cable news... especially FOX!

- Paul ReynoldsDiaper commercials, much like commercials for menstrual products, have always sort of glossed over the actual function of the products. No more. A new Huggies ad for denim-patterned diapers (really) features a voice-over that says "I poo in blue," and ends with the tagline, "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants."
The New York Times reports that this level of frankness did not go over well.
While the jeans diaper commercial, which is scheduled to run on May 31, was accepted by 13 networks, including NBC, TNT and E!, three others, ABC, ABC Family and Sprout, objected to screen text at the end of the spot that included the word “pooping,” according to Huggies. (The brand did not seek to advertise on either CBS or Fox.) For those networks, the text was changed to, “When you gotta go, go in style.”
Is this too much? Are "limited edition" denim-printed diapers themselves over the top? Here's the ad.
Come on, Huggies, there are lots of pants that are much cooler to poop in than fake denim diapers.

- Anne BoueyNo, I'm still waiting to hear on JPG, they take a while apparently. This is a National Geographic/PDN magazines contest. I think there will be voting for the people's choice part, but then there is a juried part too. I have to get all of mine up and then I will post here for voting. - Steve RubelRemember yesterday, when we wrote about some major TV networks balking over whether or not to air a sexy Lane Bryant lingerie ad? Well, it looks like Fox -- the arbiter of good taste in prime time -- has decided to not be so prim and proper, and will actually air the commercial.
According to BrandWeek, the spot will run during the April 28 broadcast of American Idol. "Following Lane Bryant's refusal to make requested edits, Fox agreed to air the unedited ad during the last 10 minutes," the site quotes a source as saying.
Meanwhile, ABC, who Lane Bryant said would only air the ad during the final seconds of Dancing With the Stars, denies the allegations:
Their statements are not true. The ad was accepted. Lane Bryant was treated absolutely no differently than any advertiser for the same product. We were willing to accommodate them, but they chose to seek publicity instead.
Whatever. Here's the ad again:
Exposure: Fox to Air Lane Bryant Spot [BrandWeek]

- Geoff SchultzTorchwood was better than Dr Who - if BBC won't be making any more then I'll take an American version (especially since RTD and John Barrowman would be working on it)...
- ThomasBut the US Top Gear is coming back! lol
- Fee501stThere's a US Top Gear?
- ThomasWell they tried to get 2 versions of show started, but got canned and never aired, and now they are trying again!
- Fee501stThomas: I agree. Dr Who REALLY bugs me but Torchwood was awesome. I just don't think it would be anything like the way it was if it were an American TV company at the reigns.

It seemed like only yesterday that Joost and Hulu were seen as also-rans. Surprisingly, the latter online video streaming service has taken off and is now offering a $10 per month "plus" service and will be rolling it out to select markets by May 24.
The LA Times writes that the service will offer a "more comprehensive selection" over the current one limited episode model. There is, sadly, no more information.
The suggestion here is that Hulu, in the end, will be the source for streaming TV. The company is a joint venture of NBC, Fox, and ABC and, as such, has become a clearing house for popular broadcast television. The question here is what constitutes a more comprehensive selection - I suspect full seasons as well as almost immediate simulcasting of broadcast programming - but that has yet to be decided.
From MediaDaily News: "Several years ago at a gathering of Fox affiliates, Rupert Murdoch said the network was thriving -- and it was time for the stations to better hold up their end of the bargain. Investing in the lineup surrounding prime time was critical for boosting an overall station performance. "He asked for a commitment to news and high-quality [syndicated] sitcoms," said Bill Carroll, vice president at the Katz Television Group. Stations listened to the News Corp. CEO. The irony: if Murdoch wanted to aggressively pursue Conan O'Brien for a late-night spot on Fox, his edict would have made it tough to bring the affiliates around. Many stations paid handsomely to buy off-net runs of "The Office," which comes with contracts that are hard to break. Stations airing an extra 30 minutes of news in the 11 p.m. hour also had little desire for an O'Brien gambit."
- Mark Trapp"Then, as stations crunched the numbers on potential ad dollars, many determined that Conan -- now at TBS -- wouldn't help them come out ahead. Ratings wouldn't increase enough. Ad units that Fox would offer would not yield more revenues than what they now get from selling news and sitcoms.
Unwilling or unable to easily clear the hour for Conan, executives representing at least nine stations in the top-30 markets told Fox their preference was to maintain the status quo."
- Mark TrappIt's better this way. He needed out of the network status quo.
- Eric @ CSTechcast.comWhile searching for screencasting tools for a colleague, I stumbled across Capture Fox, a free, Windows-only screen recording add-on for Firefox. It’s basic — it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of more advanced tools like Camtasia or even Jing, for example — but if you’re just looking for something to quickly capture a video of your screen with a voiceover, perhaps to demo a web site feature to a client, or to make a tutorial to show a colleague how something works, it’s worth checking out.
After installing the add-on (available from the Mozilla Add-Ons site) and restarting Firefox, you can start recording your screen via Tools -> Capture Fox, hitting Ctrl + Shift + U, or clicking the Capture Fox status bar button. An options screen pops up, which lets you select whether or not to record sound, the region of the screen that will be recorded (the whole screen or just the Firefox window), the framerate to use and the quality of the video, and where the movie will be saved. Click “Start Capturing!” to start recording.
A little timer in the status bar lets you know how long you’ve been recording for. To stop recording, you can either click the button in the status bar, or hit Ctrl + Shift + U. Capture Fox then pops up another dialog box, letting you review the video, save it elsewhere, or abandon it and start another recording:
That’s just about all there is to it. If you want to add fancy stuff like titles, transitions or effects, you’ll need to do it in a separate video editing app. It’s worth noting, however, that Capture Fox is more than just a browser recording tool; it can record stuff on your screen that’s not in the Firefox window — there’s even an option to minimize Firefox before recording if you want to capture something else.
Unfortunately, Capture Fox is only available for Windows currently, although the FAQ page on Capture Fox site says that the developer will get around to adding Mac and Linux support after stabilizing the Windows version.
Let us know what you think of Capture Fox below.

Bidding war! (It sounds more exciting if you shout it like a fat kid screaming "food fight!") The Heat Vision blog reports several studios, including Warner and Fox, are competing to win the rights to make a feature length version of The Gift, the under-five-minute film just released as part of a Philips short series made to promote their idiotic televisions with auras.
Made by commercial director Erik Rinsch, The Gift primarily follows a Soviet android on a motorcycle fleeing police to protect a small unicorn in a box, which kind of sounds like something a troubled but precocious 8-year-old would come up with as a veiled metaphor for his problems at home, but it's actually pretty solid. Watch it:
For some reason, now I really want to buy a living television that projects its soul on the wall...
(Thanks, sham.)

After months of speculation about his future, Conan O’Brien announced on Twitter on Monday that he’ll be starring in a new show on TBS in November.
Since leaving The Tonight Show in January, O’Brien has become somewhat of a fixture in social media, leveraging the support of “Team Coco” to become a widely followed Twitter user, launch a nationwide comedy tour and ultimately announce the new show, which will air at 11pm on the cable network.
In a statement, O’Brien says that “In three months, I’ve gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theaters, and now I’m headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.”
The move does come as a bit of a surprise, however, with most speculation since The Tonight Show fallout focusing on O’Brien moving to FOX. Now, we’ll see if O’Brien can ride the momentum into a cable success, as he becomes one of the biggest names yet to ditch network TV.
