In a bit of shocking news, it looks like MySpace is the most popular social networking application on the Android Market.
MySpace also said its apps is the third most-popular app overall for Android Market and it attributes this success to the deep integration with the operating system.
“We also allow users to set MySpace photos as background wallpaper on their phone’s home screen,” MySpace said on its blog. “Close integration with the native Android camera contributes to the customized experience and makes it easy for MySpace users to take, upload and share pictures of their friends out having fun.”
I’ve used the app before and it is well-done, but I have no friends still using MySpace. I thought it had been relegated to bands and perverts, but I guess I’m wrong. The Fox-owned network did have the first-mover advantage because it has been on the platform since about launch, while an official Facebook app didn’t come until much later. It will be interesting to watch if MySpace can keep up this performance in a year or two.

As you can see in the video above, it turns out that Eric Massa, the right-wing media's newest darling, hasn't exactly managed to tell a consistent story on health care reform. In just a few months, he's gone from supporting single-payer even if opinion were 80-20 against it to saying he opposes reform because Democrats haven't done enough to forge popular consensus.
Yesterday, he said he was being forced out of Congress because he opposed efforts to "ram this [health care reform] down the throats of the American people" when "the entire nation has said let's rewrite the health care bill. Let's find what we can agree on."
But last August, speaking at Netroots Nation, Massa said on health care legislation, members of Congress should vote for reforms like single-payer even if they are deeply unpopular -- as long as they believe those reforms will be good for their constituents. "Sometimes members of Congress must vote against popular opinion because they know what is in the interest of their districts and the country," he said. "I will vote against their [his constituents] opinion if I actually believe it will help them."
So even though Massa now says he is the target of a conspiracy because he believes we need to "rewrite the health care bill" to find a popular consensus, just a few months ago, he said he would vote for a single-payer system even if 80% of the public was against it. Now that's change Fox can believe in.

Besides its own Sony Pictures, the company's deal will allow buying and renting HD on the PlayStation 3 from Disney, Fox, Paramount, Universal and Warner. No price changes were mentioned as part of the additions, but the agreement is non-exclusive....New developments in the case of the right-wing's latest hero:
Former Rep. Eric Massa has been under investigation for allegations that he groped multiple male staffers working in his office, according to three sources familiar with the probe.
The allegations surrounding the New York Democrat date back at least a year, and involve "a pattern of behavior and physical harassment," according to one source. The new claims of alleged groping contradict statements by Massa, who resigned his office on Monday after it became public that he was the subject of a House ethics committee investigation for possible harassment.
Massa had said that the allegations were limited to his use of "salty language" with his staff. He apologized for making some inappropriate comments and argued he was being unfairly villified.
Yikes. It's almost makes you think he won't show up as scheduled for Glenn Beck's program, because even Beck won't be able to ignore these sorts of allegations without damaging his credibility with Fox viewers.
More importantly, it underscores the fact that there is no connection between Eric Massa's health care vote and his resignation. Remember, 39 House Democrats voted no on reform. Massa is the only one of them to resign. It's not because he voted no.
Freeview HD boss Ilse Howling has predicted that 50% of all UK homes will be able to watch this summer’s FIFA World Cup in HD when it kicks off in June. Are you gagging to see John Terry in frighteningly sharp detail with Freeview HD?
At the DTG Summit, Howling predicted that not only will half of UK viewers be able to watch the World Cup in HD if they want to but that 90% will have access to Freeview HD by the 2012 London Olympics (also set to be in BBC 3D).
Howling was also very confident about Freeview HD success. She said: “14 of the 15 most watched channels are on Freeview…it took Sky six years to achieve what Freeview has done in two or three.”
Howling claims Freeview is now the main TV receiving device in 10 million homes with 18 million Freeview boxes sold so far.
According to research quoted by Howling, a quarter of homes with Freeview have already expressed an interest in upgrading to Freeview HD.
The amount of interest in Freeview HD is good news for the service which just lost out on Film 4 HD which has gone to Virgin Media.
If you’re thinking about getting Freeview HD in time for the World cup, make you sure you check out our Humax HD Fox T2 Freeview HD box review and the Toshiba HDR5010 Freeview HD recorder.

Fox's recent decision to renew 'Fringe' for a third season came as a surprise to some, but it probably wasn't a shock to most fans. The Thursday night sci-fi show isn't exactly a ratings blockbuster, but there are other factors keeping 'Fringe' in play, including its devoted fan base and its excellent pedigree (the show is produced by the in-demand J.J. Abrams and supergeeks of the moment Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman). Continue reading Fox Orders a Full 22-Episode Third Season of 'Fringe'

The green fox cleaning cart concept was designed like a cleaver fox that cleans the street with its tail combining with an environment friendly and clean image. The main goal of the concept was to reduce the hassle of street sweepers with conventional ugly looking cleaning carts that are hard to carry around and are not so functional.
The green fox has been designed in three phases by emphasizing trash containment, smooth mobility of the cart and portability of the kits. Firstly, the dustpan was designed to be protective for the garbage inside to keep them dry during rain and make the appearance simple. Secondly, the cart was designed to ensure convenient moving around with an easy to pull handle. Finally, the cleaning kits were kept simple, portable and functional. The broom length can be adjusted as and when required and the standard garbage bag is made of an elastic material trampoline, making it look compact but stretchable for up to 100-liter of garbage.

Despite the best efforts of Fox to kill the show, sci-fi TV series Fringe has been renewed for a third season.
Fringe has struggled in the ratings since Fox moved it to Thursday nights, running it against The Office, Grey’s Anatomy, and CSI.
As EW.com explains:
Though the show isn’t exactly blowing the roof off of Nielsen — it’s been averaging just 7.6 million viewers and is ranked No. 50 in the all-important adults 18-49 demographic this season — it managed to survive in a tough new time period on Thursdays.
Created by J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, Fringe stars the stunning Australian actress Anna Torv.

To hear the sound of wind getting knocked out of millions of chests when The Hurt Locker topples Avatar for best picture, you may want to download tvChatter, a real-time Twitter viewer that's organized by TV show. The new app developed by frog design has developed a special section for this Sunday's Academy Awards broadcast where armchair Twitters can compare Oscar pools with other viewers. tvChatter also lets users filter the Tweets within a particular show so you are only seeing commentary by people you already follow. According to this video from frog's designers, this is an attempt to make TV more social:
We've seen plenty of apps, widgets and graphic overlaps trying to bridge the great TV-to-Twitter divide. Some of them, like FOX's attempt to re-run episodes of Glee and Fringe with Twitter commentary rolling up along the bottom of the screen, were not as well-received. frog's idea is right on in the sense that we want to keep the Twitter chatter on our devices, not on our sets. But is this really a huge step up from just searching "Oscars" or clicking a hashtag? At least it's free, so there's no harm in giving it a whirl this Sunday.

I just heard about an interesting pitch that apparently just sold to Fox. The writing duo of Sam Pitman and Adam Cole-Kelly pitched a comedy called Premature Maturation, which is essentially the Tom Hanks movie Big, but with an ensemble of middle school kids who transform into adults and get into crazy misadventures ala The Hangover. Talk about high concept. Word on the tracking boards is the pitch sold for mid-six figures. Pitman and Cole-Kelly will likely pen the script. No director or cast is attached.
Pitman and Cole-Kelly sold another pitch in November of 2009 to Paramount for an R-rated comedy titled The Misadventures of Fluffy. That project has been described as a road trip through New York featuring talking animals featuring “an element of social comedy reminiscent of the 1980’s film Trading Places.” Eddie Murphy is producing, and Pitman and Cole-Kelly are writing the screenplay.
No, we here at TV Squad haven't suddenly lost our minds. '24' is indeed on FOX, not NBC, but there's a possibility that the show could change networks if FOX decides that this is the last season of the drama, and NBC execs have talked about picking it up.

If you’re a fan of American Idol and like to interact with this season’s contestants digitally, it’s too late. Fox, broadcaster of the popular reality show, pulled a social media switcheroo and are not continuing with having individual Twitter, MySpace and Facebook accounts for each contestant.
You can no longer follow individual Twitter profiles or become a member of a Season 9 contestant’s Facebook Page. Now, if you do want to do all sorts of fan-like things (sending perosnal notes or congrats, talking trash) at the Official American Idol 9 Contestant pages (Twitter, Facebook, MySpace).
Why would Fox do this? On the one hand, it makes sense for managing social media channels. Why have a multitude of accounts to manage, especially if the current American Idol season is seriously lacking in talent, as a WSJ Speakeasy blog post suggests? However, this might be a lesson for other reality shows to consider sticking to as well. By consolidating accounts, not only are there less to manage, there’s an opportunity to stir up rivalries between fans of different contestants. What’s more, fans of contestant might actually find interest in another — or the show’s staff could recommend that fans of one contestant listen to another. This approach possibly makes the different social media pages “stickier” for fans, increasing the possibiilty that they’ll come back for more, improving their experience compared to following dozens of scattered social media pages.
