As a Mac owner, I've been relatively happy with Parallels Desktop which lets me run Windows or Linux builds within Mac OS X. It's seamless and transparent, thanks to the Coherence function that allows Windows apps to appear as if they're Mac apps on my desktop. Now that I have a shiny and peppy new MacBook thanks to a pre-Black Friday deal, I might use some of the savings for VMware Fusion. Why would I even consider buying yet another virtual machine application? I'm a sucker for a good deal and The Apple Blog knows it. It's all their...
No matter how good the webkit browser is on the G1, people will always be looking for a better solution. Perhaps Opera is the answer to some prayers having hit the Android market. Crave that visual voicemail so you can pick and choose which love interest to call back first? Do that with visual voicemail as both features have landed and are taking the Android market by storm. While current reviews of Opera have been generally positive and most reviewers are more bent up on the fact that are alternative options to the built in and shipped packaging, there...
As you all very well know, I have little patience for Comcast and its anti-innovation policy of metered broadband. If you are like me and are looking for an option, in San Francisco you can get 18 Mbps ADSL2+ connection from Sonic.net, a small ISP which has puts its own gear in nine central offices in the city. The service called Fusion Broadband isn’t exactly cheap but at least you aren’t going to be metered. CEO Dane Jasper email to let us know that his service is also available in Berkeley, Albany, Santa Rose and bunch of other cities....
Matt Miller called our attention to two new programs in the T-Mobile Android Market for the G1. Opera Mini 4.2 Beta is a solid browser on any device and I've been playing with it on the G1. It's too early to call it good or bad, it's just different than the Android browser. It's lightning fast however you look at it. Also up for grabs in the Market is the Visual Voicemail program from Fusion. This is a no-frills voicemail program for the G1 that lets you see your voicemail like messages, like the iPhone and the Blackberry Storm. ...
We were promised visual voicemail for the G1 (and subsequent Android phones) by the end of the year via the folks at Fusion, a VVM provider that already has apps for several other platforms. Today, the Android version hit the Market, and we've given it a spin. So how does it work? Pretty well. Setup is fairly simple—just sign up for an account with your email address and mobile number on Fusion's site to get an activation PIN code (all free) which then pairs your G1's app with your account. After that, you have to manually change your call forwarding...
