I guess Izea isn't the place where you can get Swedish meatballsI probably get a few hundred things in my RSS feeds daily, and many of them pass by without being read. But I did happen to read two of them, both of which had a common theme. One was written by Julia Roy, the other by Loren Feldman. See if you can tell them apart. (I think you can.)...Never been to a Kmart. It’s just not on my radar. So when Izea contacted me and said that Kmart would like to give me a $500 gift card I wasn’t sure what to expect. Sure I’ve heard of them and seen stores...

Give a gift card this yearI’m starting to become a really big fan of Gift Cards. They’re great because, unlike debit and credit cards they’re separate to your personal banking. I’ve found that this gives shoppers some form of accountability while they’re shopping, they have a set amount to spend kind of a thing. GiftCardLab.com is a great place to get your Gift Cards Online.  Not only do they have marvelous service online but you can upload your own photos and completely customize those cards. To top it off your Visa gift cards are FDIC Insured. Unlike store brand gift cards, if a store goes...

Roseanne Colletti: To Gift Card or Not — To Gift Card or Not A gift card is a beautiful thing. One size fits all, unlike a swimsuit that is guaranteed not to fit anywhere you want it to, but that's another story. Back to gift cards, the easy way out for many this holiday shopping season. But before you buy a deck of them and deal them out to your nearest and dearest, remember the plastic presents have their perils. First you should know there are two kinds of gift cards. The Federal Trade Commission divides them into "retail" gift cards and "bank" gift cards. A retail gift...

Apple’s Black Friday sale: No iPhone or MacBook ProAfter a few hours of downtime to prepare for the big Black Friday sale, Apple’s U.S. online store has just come back to life. While you can find savings on iMacs, MacBooks, iPod touches, iPod classics, iPod nanos and the Apple TV, it’s just as noteworthy what isn’t getting discounted: MacBook Pros and iPhones. Here’s what you will find on sale: iMac: The two mid-range versions have been discounted $101, the low-end has been discounted $51. Interestingly, the high-end (3.06GHz 24-inch) has not been discounted at all. MacBook: The two new 13-inch versions are both $101 off, the older 13-inch...

A lot of people do their holiday shopping online nowadays. That’s a potential problem for Apple though, whose hottest item, the iPhone 3G, isn’t technically sold through its online store (you have to go into a physical store to get it). Enter the iPhone 3G Gift Card. The card, which comes in a kind of shimmering black color with a red ribbon drawn around one corner for the holidays, allows the buyer to place any amount from $25 to $2,500 on the card. Of course, the iPhone 3G itself will only cost you $199 or $299 depending on which version...

Best Buy Black Friday VIP winners announced: Lots of strange ‘I love shopping!’ essays Best Buy had some sort of Black Friday VIP contest going on where the chain invited people to send in their best Black Friday essay. I know. The winners get a $1,000 Best Buy gift card, a trip to a store in a limo, the opportunity to buy up to four “doorbusters,” and so on. I’ve picked out a few excerpts that may interest you. From Eric in Boston: Dark, raw, open air. I stand, blurry-eyed, trying vainly to focus on anything but the steam rising from the coffee mug inches under my nose. I breathe deeply, inhaling the...
