A policeman speaks into his phone as Indians gather for a peace rally in order to pay homage to those slain by the militants during the recent terror attacks in the city at the Gateway of India in Mumbai on December 3, 2008. People from all walks of life took part in the rally to condemn the recent terrorist attacks and urged the government to take strong measures to curb such attacks in future. Lindsay Lohan, the Hollywood actress and drama magnet, is having yet another painful identity crisis — of the Facebook kind. Her Facebook account has been temporarily disabled, and she ironically chose to rant about the traumatizing experience on her MySpace blog. Her stream-of-unconsciousness style post, titled “Upset with Facebook,” claims that her Facebook profile was hacked repeatedly, and complains that Facebook administrators shut down her profile as an impostor account while scads of fake Lindsay Lohans are free to frolic on the site. Tragic. And why would that be? Lohan has the answer, with a lack of capitalization that...
Amigos de Gizmodo, here's a must-have gadget for any tourists wanting to cause a lasting sensation in Spanish-speaking countries: a keychain that emits useful expressions that will open doors everywhere you go. With the Palabra Graciosa (Gracious Word) keyring, you will not need to learn Spanish. Capable of saying "Hijo de Puta", "Comemierda", "Cabrón" and "Maricón" at the push of a button, this will work to start conversations, call friends, order a beer, express your love, and even defend yourself in any civil debate. I know, because I'm from Spain and three out of every four words I say are...
The Kisai Denshoku is an homage to the lights and skyline of Shinjuku but personally I think this watch by Tokyoflash looks more like a little hibachi waiting for some shrimp and a nice flank of Kobe beef. The Denshoku costs $247.72 and is available in white or black. The watch shows the time in three stages. You press the button and it shows the hours, ten minutes, and then the single minutes. You can also activate animation mode that gives a Blade Runner-esque sense of style to your next board meeting. Your Boss: So we’ve got to really...
It’s not the famous Web 3.0 the semantic crowd has been lobbying for for years. It’s not the next big thing or even the next little thing, or whatever the Times touted when it went nuts for micromessaging today. It’s Web 2.2, and it stands for incremental improvements that, oh by the way, add up to a big leap. I’m branding this as an homage to the latest iPhone OS 2.2 upgrade, which surfaced a few days ago with limited fanfare centering mostly around new walking and public transportation views in Maps and improved memory and stability. But the new...
British photographer Robbie Cooper used stills from the video taken by his RED camera to show that look of total concentration achieved by kids as they play some particularly absorbing video games, including Grand Theft Auto IV and Call of Duty 4. Cooper had the kids look at a reflection of the game in a plane of glass, and put his camera behind the glass so the kids wouldn't be self-conscious about the giant fancy camera pointed right in their faces. This technique is evidently Cooper's homage to Errol Morris' "Interrotron" that the filmmaker used for many of his documentaries....
Say what you want about robots being our future overlords and all that, but we think they're really just here to boogie. I mean, if all you wanted to do was get your groove on but some engineer kept programming you to scare prisoners or little children, you might go looking for a little payback too, right? Thankfully there's MechRC, a 17-servo kit newly available in the Americas that, despite his menacing visage, should do wonders to soothe human-robot relations through a vast array of funky moves. Thanks to what looks to be some easy to use (though sadly...
Filed under: Smallville, Episode Reviews, Reality-Free (S08E10) In an episode that started with an homage to Cloverfield, we finally get a look at Doomsday. Not surprisingly, he looks like he did in the comic books. I thought they were going to use CGI to create the character, but obviously, that was cost-prohibitive (we did get a nice CGI of the bones growing out of Bloome's hand). They settled for a rubber suit and make-up, a la Michael Chiklis in the Fantastic Four movies.Only someone from Smallville would find it romantic to get married in the Kent barn. It did probably...
So today is the launch of the new book Social Media is a Cocktail Party: Why You Already Know the Rules of Social Media Marketing on Amazon.com. All you haters who think GM's showing up with nothing at next week's LA Auto Show — get ready to eat your words. The boys and girls from Trollhattan will celebrate 25 years of quirky Swedish open air driving with the Saab 9-3 2.0T Special Edition Convertible. The new Saab convertible, pays homage to the first Saab convertible, which debuted at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. If it looks familiar, maybe it's because this "special edition" is quite similar to the Saab 9-3 Convertible Yellow Edition revealed earlier this year. In fact, both sport the same 2.0-liter turbo, 17-inch five-spoke...
