> Finding the right Bluetooth headset can be challenging, not to mention very expensive to buy one only to find out it's the most uncomfortable headset you have ever tried. This is why it is great to read through our reviews here at WMExperts... we can help you narrow down which one may be right for you. In this review, I am going to share my experiences with the affordable Plantronics Explorer 350 Bluetooth Headset and whether I feel it's one to snag or one to avoid. Design & Pairing Plantronics Explorer 350 may not be the flashiest Bluetooth headset...
Muji, the "No-brand brand", has announced the winners of its third design award, and they're rather odd. The Gold prize went to Yuki Lida of Japan for the Straw Straw. It's a drinking straw, made out of, yes, straw. Real, cut-from-the-fields straw, trimmed to length and stuffed into a minimalist Muji plastic bag. Even more literal is the Granpa's Nail Hook. Designed by Masashi Watanabe, also from Japan, this hook was inspired by the nails Watanabe's grandfather pounded into the wall to provide a place to hang coats. What will you find inside the box? You're ahead of me...
From Serious Eats Pie-rets combine two things that don't usually get paired: pies and berets. Thanks to Monster Crochet, you can now wear a fuzzy, inedible dessert on your head. The pumpkin pie-ret is appropriately garnished with "whipped creme," or a pointy white fuzz in the center of the hat. If you're a lattice crust person, go for the cranberry orange pie-ret (which could easily pass for cherry too). As far as the pecan pie-ret goes, the above model on the right makes a great case for it. All three were croched with an F hook. Sadly, no patterns were...
Filed under: Handsets, MultimediaJust about a year ago today we heard whispers that Blockbuster was shopping hardware manufacturers to launch a mobile video service. Leveraging Microsoft's Live Mesh network, Blockbuster hopes to get video out to average joe consumer's portable media device -- which we will assume includes Windows Mobile sets -- initially through Airport kiosks that'll offer quick downloads while you wait for your flight. Blockbuster's CIO, Keith Morrow went on to say "Eventually, we'll give customers instant access to any movie on any device with an Internet connection and a screen" and to that we say, cool beans!...
Filed under: Industry, Programming, OpEd, Casting, Reality-FreeCan I say something here that some of you will disagree with? There are way too many procedurals on the air right now. Criminal procedurals, medical procedurals, criminal-medical procedurals...the networks are popping them out faster than Michelle Duggar gives birth. And now, we can add another potential procedural to the ever-growing list. The new project, being developed for NBC, will star Gabrielle Union (Bring It On) as a detective who must race to save someone's life before it's too late. What's not clear from this description is if this saving will be during each...
Why should I listen to you? I have successfully pitched to local and national media outlets, ranging from the Albany Times Union, where I blog, to The Christian Science Monitor, MSNBC.com, E! Online, Newsweek, The LA Times, and others. Working as a blogger and journalist for the past eight years provided me with insight on how to pitch successfully. Proceed with the knowledge that you will only succeed in pitching if you persist. If you do not, these tips are useless. Be Brief If you can’t tell a reporter who you are and what you’re pitching in less than a...

Looks like the latest iPhone 2.2 SDK has a few surprises built-in. For one, the updated MediaPlayer framework can make it possible to export live video to your TV. I know it sounds crazy, but it is totally possible, and we've posted a video to prove it. MPTVOutWindow class makes it so your iPhone can transmit video straight from itself to a TV connected to it. So, instead of viewing videos on your iPhone screen, you can view them on your much larger TV screen. You will need to buy a video adapter or cable in order to make the...
By now, most people know that I am an evangelist for the Thesis theme and that the Sugarrae site actually runs on the theme. When Chris Pearson announced the newest release of Thesis, it touted a bunch of great new features and fixed most of my previous gripes. Users who don’t know CSS or PHP have more control with the new thesis them than with any other theme I’ve ever seen. It looked completely awesome until I downloaded it and saw that Thesis was now run completely on “hooks”. Not only did I not know what a hook was, the...

Windows only: Free application Lunascape is a web browser capable of running any of the three major web rendering engines—Gecko (Firefox), WebKit (Safari/Chrome), and Trident (Internet Explorer). That means that each time you open a new tab or follow a link, you can tell Lunascape which engine you want to use to render the page. The idea, in theory, is that Lunascape gives you the benefits of each popular browser in one. For example, Lunascape gives you IE support for the few IE-only sites still out there and no-nonsense speed from WebKit or Gecko. You can switch which engine is...
Apple's new MacBooks are mighty speedy, but they suffer from a huge performance drop if you remove the battery and use the AC adapter as the sole source of power. Gearlog's Zach Honig discovered that the MacBook sees a 37-percent drop in speed when running without a battery. Honig benchmarked a 2.53 GHz MacBook Pro using a multiprocessor test called Cinebench R10. With the battery present, the MacBook Pro turned in a score of 5,549. Without the battery, it scored 3,504. While this may appear to be a minor issue -- since most people keep their batteries in their...
Here at Gear Live, we’ve been big fans of Orb for quite a while. Back in the original iPhone days, they made an app that was only available on jailbroken phones that we really liked - we just knew it needed to run at 3G speeds to be useful when on the go. The time has finally come, though, as OrbLive has hit the App Store. To back up for a moment, Orb allows you to access files and media on your home computer while on the go. This means that any music on your home computer can now...
