They regularly trend as a hot topic on Twitter. The cast and crew of The Guild watch them on set. And they spend most of their time sleeping in a giant, snuggly pile, but that hasn’t kept them from becoming the hottest new stars in the livecasting world — darn right I’m talking about the Shiba Inu puppy cam. Free live streaming by Ustream Hosted by Ustream and viewed by over 4 million people, the six adorable puppies in this litter are now six weeks old, and they are getting awfully big. Which is a little terrifying for those in...
So guess what the hot topic today in social media was folks? Yup that new evil invading Twitter called Magpie which allows you to use a 3rd party service to monetize your Twitter stream of consciousness. All the heavy weights are weighing in with their opinion about the service. You know the folks like Arrington, Valleywag, Jeremiah and one of my favourite bloggers David Risley. The interesting thing is that they are all pretty well in agreement - the idea sucks monkey balls (my words not their’s). The fun thing here is though, that this is nothing new to me in the...
Filed under: Site Announcements, Reality-FreeThe folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their latest musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between: Disney's coming out with a non-Pixar animated movie. It involves Miley Cyrus and an adorable puppy! But is it any good? Find out when Cinematical reviews Bolt. Apparently Australia makes movies. You know, other than the upcoming Australia. They're not movies I've ever seen, but the Cinematical Seven takes a look...
S just got R, dudes: The "Arrested Development" feature has moved closer to reality, with Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard reportedly closing deals for the long-gestating project from Imagine and Fox Searchlight. The possible migration of the critically acclaimed but short-lived Fox series to the big screen has been a hot topic among fans for the past year. Speculation has been fueled by cast members of the show, including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor, who have been frequently quoted in interviews that a feature adaptation is in the works. Hurwitz, who created and exec produced the Emmy-winning...
This band is like if Insane Clown Posse decided to become a boy band. If you like this, I think their EP is exclusively available at a Hot Topic near you. Contribute: Add an image, link, video or comment » The Best Links: Brokencyde’s MySpace...
For listening to conversations on Twitter about your brand, your client’s brand or anything else you need to be paying attention to online, you are literally spoiled for choice. I think one of the simplest yet more effective tools available is Twitter search (known as Summize before Twitter acquired it), shown in the screenshot above (click for larger image). As its name indicates, it searches tweets on the keywords you enter. Once you do that on the website, the results page tells you when new content appears on Twitter that matches your search term(s). You then manually refresh the...
The latest buzz from Google is the newly-launched Gmail themes that allow every user to choose exactly how your Gmail application will look like in your browser. Also Gmail team has rolled out a slight change in the overall default application interface that features a little different colors. But when on a normal day new interface for Gmail could be a hot topic for the day, today people don’t even mention it with the new Gmail Themes introduced being big news. To be able to switch from a default Gmail interface to using one of the available thirty themes, go...
Posted by Jane CoplandLast week at Pubcon in Las Vegas, I took part in a session titled, "5 Bloggers and a Microphone." Since then, we've heard a fair bit of feedback that people were disappointed in the session, mainly because the questions we were asked didn't allow us to impart any good blogging knowledge. As was reported in many different places, one attendee asked an in-depth paid search question which none of us were at all qualified to answer. The discussion often veered towards Twitter, and we spent the first portion of the hour talking about the U.S. election. From...
Being eco-friendly has been a hot topic for most companies this year and Quiksilver is no different. The Ray is a limited edition watch (1,000 unit run) hitting stores next month for $500, but why is it considered eco-friendly? Or to be more precise, an eco-conscious design? Many of its parts are 100 percent recycled: aluminum, mineral crystal, anti-allergy 316L stainless steel and solvent free links. It doesn’t require a battery because of its nine ruby stainless steel and brass automatic movement. And it has bits of real ebony wood that’s been sourced from sustainable managed forests. Apparently most...
Safe to say that the mood of last week–with its anticipation of change–is a distant memoryC. A different kind of anticipation permeated the tech and online media industries, one more reminiscent of April 2000. There was news all around of layoffs, pending layoffs, bankruptcies and stock dives. To wit: Digital Daily offered up a body count of companies with companies in the tech sector that have been beaten into whimpering submission. Nortel, once a telecom high-flyer, lost $3.4 billion in Q3. The company announced plans to lay off five percent of its workforce–including some high-ranking executives–eliminating 2,500 positions. Other high-ranking...
Today in ridiculous Twilight news The CEO of Hot Topic, yes seller of spiky dog collars and other angsty teen wares, has emailed the masses at Twilight fandom headquarters to apologize for ruining the Hot Topic Robert Pattinson Twilight signing in Chicago. Apparently he was afraid of another San Francisco mob scene (they gave out wristbands hours before the line began - bastards). Wow people are actually scared of Twilight fans now! Fantastic, there may be hope for them yet. Full apology and fan response below. To all of the supporters of Hot Topic and fans of TWILIGHT: Although...
Before the recent financial crash, we wrote about growing investment around the programming framework Ruby on Rails. It looks those investments haven’t stopped yet – New Relic, a company that helps you manage Rails applications, has raised $6 million in a second round of funding. Dan Scholnick of Trinity Ventures, which led the round, says there are a bunch of reasons why New Relic seemed like a good investment, even as the economy crumbles. For one thing, interest in Rails (which gives developers speed and flexibility when building apps) continues to grow. The framework is even being used by big,...
