This rumor has been popping up and hitting me in the face all day, from all angles. Wired, Boy Genius, and Engadget have all reported it as a strong rumor, while some sites are claiming it as fact. What's the story? The story is, there is no story. At least, not yet. There has been no official announcement and as our own lovable Jesus said, a $99 iPhone doesn't really mesh with Apple's pricing strategy. Times are tough, certainly, but the iPhone is still selling quite well and there's really no need for Apple to go this route. On the...
SitOrSquat is a handy service that helps you find the nearest public bathroom. Unlike MizPee, which has been doing this since October of last year, SitOrSquat has gotten its act together enough to put out two great apps for iPhones and Blackberry phones. The key benefit of these being the inclusion of GPS, which narrows down where you are with just one click. If you're in a hurry--which is inevitable when using a service like this, this feature is immensely helpful. In addition to its GPS locating, the mobile application lets you take photos of the facilities from your...
Flickr is rolling out a new and improved version of its mobile website, the company announced Thursday. In addition to some enhancements to the mobile site's user interface, the update adds video playback capability -- something previously missing from the Flickr mobile experience. Video playback will only work on the iPhone and iPod Touch right now, but Flickr plans to add support for other smart mobile devices in the coming weeks and months. A strong mobile experience in a must for the photo-sharing site, especially now as camera-equipped mobile devices become ubiquitous. Almost everyone carries around personal photos and...

It is a great year for TV Tech, kids! To get this Best of 2008 party going, we'll be looking at the geeky goings-on of the boob tube. There's always a cell phone trade-up on Gossip Girl, not to mention a profusion of posts on the namesake blog and secrets passed around on flash drives, while on Lipstick Jungle, the well-connected ladies vie for the latest Apple product. And let's not forget the BlackBerry bunnies of The Hills! But less likely veterans made a play for the geekiest show honor as well; 30 Rock integrated iPhones, while The Office geeked-out...
Apple’s iPhone is the star in a series of charts published Tuesday by Needham & Co. analyst Charles Wolf. The first is a quarter-by-quarter snapshot of the worldwide smartphone market that shows a sharp uptick in Apple’s (AAPL) share set against the downward drift of its major competitors — Nokia’s (NOK) Symbian, RIM’s (RIMM) BlackBerry and Microsoft’s (MSFT) Windows Mobile. The second chart shows the same data without Symbian — which lets you zero in on the competition between the iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile. In this chart, the rise in Apple’s market share after the July release of the...

Here's the full rundown: Top Paid Apps (Overall): 1. Koi Pond 2. Texas Hold’em 3....
$500 fully subsidized with a plan! I said that is the most expensive phone in the world and it doesn’t appeal to business customers because it doesn’t have a keyboard which makes it not a very good email machine. …Right now we’re selling millions and millions and millions of phones a year, Apple is selling zero phones a year. In six months, they’ll have the most expensive phone by far ever in the marketplace and let’s see … what’s the expression? Let’s see how the competition goes. – Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer on the iPhone, Jan. 2007 “Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone...
