How Big Is the ISS Compared to Science Fiction Spaceships? [Sizemodo]We are so used to the International Space Station that we don't give its massive scale a second thought. I, for one, took it for granted until a newly-released NASA photograph reminded me that this thing is huge. So huge that I fired up Photoshop and did an illustration comparing it to a Colonial Viper Mk1, a Corellian corvette, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A, and the new Battlestar Galactica. Check both the high resolution sizemodo and the amazing NASA photo after the jump. <<< Click on the sizemodo to see the high definition image* Here's the NASA photography, showing the scale...

Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt, rumored as the front runner for the role of America’s first Chief Technology Officer, has gone on the record saying he’d say no if offered the position. While long being spoken about in the role, Schmidt became favorite for the position after being named on President Elect Obama’s 17-person economic transition economic advisory board. “I love working at Google and I’m very happy to stay at Google, so the answer is no,” Schmidt told CNBC host Jim Cramer when asked about the rumors. According to Reuters, he also said Obama shares his belief that green...

Giant LEGO Figure Appears On Beach A giant LEGO minifig maxifig washed up on the beach of Brighton, England a few days ago, and nobody knows where the hell he came from. The Lego man is 6ft tall in red, yellow and green. It is presumed to have washed up on the beach, but whether it has come from a cargo ship or from across the Channel is not clear. Brighton resident Gerry Turner, 34, said: "It's very odd. God knows how it got here but people are saying it's from Holland because it's got some Dutch writing on it. It must have fallen off...

In Time For Halloween: LED LEGO Minifigs Just in time for Halloween comes a DIY article on how to stuff an LED into a LEGO minifig's carved out head. It isn't too complicated, so if you have some LEDs lying around you could make a pretty sweet LEGO Halloween diorama tonight and be ready for tomorrow. And, honestly, is there anything cooler than celebrating the devil's holiday with LEGO minifigs? No, there isn't. Well, except for the rich family that hands out full-size Snickers bars. Hit the jump for more pictures and a link to the DIY page. How to hack LEDs into Lego minifigures for...

Stiff Washes Up On UK Beach-A Giant Lego Minifig Stiff [Lego]A six-foot model Lego chap washed up on Brighton's famous beach today, and was found by local kids, who presumably will need trauma counseling after seeing an iconic toy brought low. I should've headlined this piece "Lego Minifig Man Has Long Walk Off Short Pier" since it seems no-one knows where he came from, or why he was swimming with the fishies. And, fantastically, this weirdness has actually happened before. At least Brighton's town council has a relaxed stance towards the leaving the corpse where he is: "There's no problem at all. It will be interesting to see how long...

How To Do a 3D Lego Halloween Pumpkin [LEGO]While this Lego Halloween Pumpkin is not as spooky and macabre as the sectioned Lego minifig showing his skeleton and inner guts, it is a complete must in any geekabolous nerdy Halloween decorations. In fact, I would be building a whole bunch of this following these very simple instructions: Is you are wondering where to get all these bright orange bricks for this 3D Lego Halloween Pumpkin you will need two of these Lego packs. [Lego— Thanks LIndsay Joy] Maybe Halloween or something horrific could be a good theme for your Go Miniman Go contest video. After all, there are...

Halloween LEGO minifig contest Fine Clonier is hosting a Haunted Halloween Custom LEGO Minifig Contest - there's still time to enter! Here are a few of the rules - complete information is here. (I hope somebody comes up with a scary princess) What is the contest," you ask. Well it is simply building a Custom Scary Halloween figure out of official LEGO or custom elements. LEGO has been helping us out with scary pumpkin heads, goblins, ghosts, and even trolls, so you might not even need custom elements. Just play mix and match. "There has to be a catch," you say, well not...

I don't know what can I say about this gigantic 80,000-brick Lego Ferrari model except that 1) it's amazing, 2) it's a blow up of the Ferrari F1 Racer 1:8 that I bought earlier this year in my trip to Lego's Factory, and 3) it was made in Legoland Netherlands for a special event that started yesterday. A close up and another simulated-Lego Ferrari car that can actually drive after the jump. The lucky guy riding the car is dutch kids TV presenter Leon Krijgsman, who went through the streets driving this Lego kart. No need to build this beast...
