Europe release date confirmed, hopefully the UK will be around the same time
Nokia's latest flagship handset, the Nokia N8 is due to be released in Germany on August 24, with the price being about €370. It's going to be on sale via Amazon Germany, so you could order one from there, although we're hopeful that a UK release date will be around the same time.
The N8 can shoot 720p HD video, via its 12-megapixel camera and runs the new Symbian^3 operating system.
When we got our paws on an N8, earlier this month, the Nokia bods wouldn't let us turn it on to see the new OS in action as it was unfinished. However, we did take lots of pictures of the handset, so take a look to see if you like its style.
We'll bring you the official UK release date and details as soon as we have them. If you're too impatient to wait then you could kill 34 minutes of the wait by listening to the all new Pocket-lint Podcast. Clearly, we don't mind a bit of shameless self-promotion.

- Kol TregaskesThe specs suggest this betters the HTC Desire but still need to see the OS to see if it betters it overall.

This is getting messy. Google has six different variants of the Android OS, 37.2% are still using 1.5, that’s the oldest but one.
As Pocket-Lint explains:
The vast majority of users running 1.5 will be HTC Hero owners, who have still not been offered an upgrade to 1.6, more than 6 months after it was made available to other device owners, let alone 2.0 or 2.1. People running 1.6 will be mostly HTC Magic owners, and those on 2.1 will mostly be people who’ve shelled out for an HTC Desire, HTC Legend or a Nexus One.
Who does this remind you of? Microsoft and it’s various version of Windows? Yeah, and me. In fact this isn’t the first Google product that seems to be getting too complicated for its own good. Have you checked out Buzz, profiles, Wave, Reader of late? But I digress…

The issue comes down Google not currently forcing handset manufacturers to issue device updates, something that will frustrate app developers who will build for the latest version of the OS. Clued up users will also feel the brunt of this when they try to get their hands on some new app that’s out there and discover they’re unable to use it because they haven’t got access to the latest version of the OS – and little they can do about it.
On a side note, with HTC building all these Android phones, how much do you reckon HTC would sell for? How long will Google continue to partner with HTC before it considers an acquisition. With an astonishing $4.55 billion USD (compared to Google’s 23 billion) in revenue in 2009, it won’t be cheap.
Impossible project brings back Black & White film
Polaroid?film will go back on sale at the end of the month following a campaign to bring it back.
Although officially canned by Polaroid, that hasn't stopped two men who starting something they called the Impossible Project campaigning for its successful return.

Recently Polaroid appointed Lady Gaga to be its creative director, something Lady Gaga is keen to show her love for in her new NSFW video
